CECODHAS - Housing Europe calls on EU leaders to deliver a more cohesive and greener society |

On the 29th of January 2010, CECODHAS - Housing Europe sent a letter to the President of the European Council, Mr van Rompuy, presenting 21 proposals to deliver a more cohesive and greener society by 2020.
Furthermore, we recently co-signed an open letter aimed at politicising the issue of energy efficiency and demonstrating a cross-sectoral support from the industry, policy makers the civil society ahead of the European Summit on February 11.

Social housing and the 2020 EU strategy: conference and exhibition in Madrid |

The conference ‘How can social housing contribute to the 2020 Euroepan Strategy?’ was held in Madrid on the 12th of January. The conference co-organised by CECODHAS – Housing Europe together with the Spanish federation AVS and the Spanish Presidency of the EU, was followed by the opening of the exhibition 'Social housing: history of a necessity'.

EPBD - Latest developments |
|
All buildings will have to comply with high energy-saving standards and be powered to a large extent by renewable energy after 31 December 2020. Public authorities will lead the way by owning and renting buildings with such "nearly zero" energy standards by the end of 2018. Part of the funding for these changes will come from the EU. These are among the key points of a deal reached between Parliament and Council negotiators. The compromise text has been formally approved by the Council on 7th December 2009.
