The housing advice centre (Wohnungsberatungszentrum, or WBZ) was opened in 1996 by the Vienna Land Provision and Urban Renewal Fund. For 60 hours each week, and often at weekends as well, it provides all the important information regarding housing law and a comprehensive overview of thousands of subsidised flats being offered on the market in Vienna. The aim was to create a "one-stop shop", offering those looking for accommodation all the information they need, from financing through to viewing, under one roof. In addition to this service, the housing access scheme "Wohnungsdrehscheibe" was set up in 1997. The target group of the project initiatives is those in Vienna on low incomes, with particular emphasis on migrants. |
