| Stated aim of project |
|
The aim of the development was to build environmentally sustainable housing for people on the Council housing list. The houses are all designed for passive solar gain and feature passive ventilation systems and triple glazing. The site has been designed to allow for a range of sustainable transport options. Pedestrian paths have been provided to open countryside and town centre, and a cycle path runs through the site; cycle-storage facilities are provided in each house. The development won first place in the National District Council category, in the Green Apple Awards 2002. |
