Housing Renewal & Maintenance

Flexible Housing. A Guide. (2006)
Housing Corporation

Language: English
Available from: http://www.housingcorp.gov.uk/

Abstract:
Over the lifetime of housing and in the context of changing needs, housing will need to be adapted, maintained and possibly extended. This guide to flexible housing shows the ways in which such flexibility can be built in at the design stage. The message of the guide is straightforward and starts with the principle that inflexibility should be designed out. This can be achieved at little if any cost, and resluts in homes that are likely to be cheaper to adapt and maintain over the years to come. A useful guide for housing developers, managers and designers to read and take account of its important lessons.
