Power House Europe project in a nutshell
The POWER HOUSE EUROPE project is to function as a catalyst to trigger action to achieve the maximum potential energy saving in the residential sector by mainstreaming existing know-how required to refurbish and build housing with optimal energy consumption levels. The starting point with be outputs of the 20 projects supported by IEE under the Vertical Key Action “Retrofitting of Social Housing”. These tools and proposals on how to accelerate retrofitting of social housing, if widely deployed, have the potential to boost the introduction of optimal intelligent-energy practices at all operational levels of social housing organizations. This will pave the way for similar developments in the wider residential sector.
The POWER HOUSE EUROPE project will maximize the impact of these projects with active hands-on targeted dissemination and knowledge exchange campaigns at national level to promote the maximum deployment rate of outputs. Over 39,000 non-for-profit housing organisations from 19 EU member states, which together manage over 22 million homes, are brought together at European level by the European Liaison Committee for Social housing (CECODHAS) who will lead the POWER HOUSE EUROPE project.

work_plan_diagram
(WP1) The overall coordination of the project will be carried out at European level by CECODHAS.
(WP 2) The first step in the POWER HOUSE EUROPE project will be a needs assessment of the energy information requirements of social housing organisations. Based on the results of the needs assessment the project outputs of completed and on-going SAVE VKA2 will be classified and collected.
(WP3) They will then be presented in the POWER HOUSE EUROPE Knowledge Base. This knowledge centre will be web-based.
(WP4) POWER HOUSE EUROPE National or regional platforms will be established by each partner. Each partner will create synergies with those bodies which will optimise the dissemination and deployment of project outputs at national level. They will elaborate and implement a dissemination and communication plan based on the needs assessment.
(WP5) Knowledge exchange and collaboration between social housing organisations is key to thesuccess of the project and will be assured through study visits and exchanges planned.
(WP6) Monitoring and evaluation of performance of national platforms will be carried out to ensure optimal performance throughout the project.
(c) Major outputs and results (including main result indicators):
- Permanent national platforms to implement communication campaigns to maximize take-up of IEE project results.
- A one-stop-shop knowledge base at European and national levels containing all the information practitioners need to deploy the outputs of IEE projects and allowing building professionals from Social Housing organisations from all over Europe to access information on best practices on allaspects of energy management.
- To trigger a massive knowledge sharing and transfer to help bring maximum Social Housing organisations Member States to the optimal level of advancement in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewables.
