This edition of CECODHAS Exchange features an in-depth look at the impact the services directive may have on the housing sector and discusses the outcome of the recent CECODHAS round table discussion on the possible role of the housing sector in reaching the Lisbon objectives. There is also a feature on urban regeneration in Northern Ireland and the incredible transformation of post-industrial Bilbao. This issue also contains a number of articles discussing the housing situation in Berlin as well as an assessment of the impact structural funds will have on social housing in the EU.

This edition of CECODHAS exchange features the Slateford Green scheme, a car-free, sustainable development on a brown field site in Edinburgh, as well as discussing the lasting benefits of the Athens Olympics. Other projects covered include Helsinki’s mixed tenure Huopalahti development, urban renewal in Dortmund and an innovative, largely privately-funded, mixed use scheme in Prague. The Winter 2005 edition also includes a section detailing the efforts of our Belgian members to make their housing stock more accessible.

Cette édition du CECODHAS Exchange présente le programme Slateford Green, un plan de développement durable, sans voiture sur un ancien site industriel contaminé à Edimbourg. En outre, il discute des avantages à long terme des Jeux Olympiques d'athènes. D'autres projets présentés incluent le lotissement Huopalahti, d'occupation mixte à Helsinki, un projet de rénovation urbaine à Dortmund et un programme innovateur largement financé par le secteur privé à Prague. L'édition d'hiver 2005 inclut aussi une section détaillée reprenant les efforts des membres belges visant à rendre le parc de logement plus accessible.

The main focus of this issue is the SHE or Sustainable Housing Europe scheme. SHE, which is funded by the European Union and coordinated by Federabitazione, aims to construct 800 dwellings in four different countries (Portugal, France, Denmark and Italy) with the help of eight different housing associations. The feature explains the main aims of the SHE project and looks in detail at some of the proposed developments. This issue also focuses on the work of the Trusted@Work4Homes consortium which receives funding under the eTen programme and describes the innovative use of online resources by Le Toit Angevin and the NIHE.

Le sujet principal de cette édition est le programme SHE (ou Sustainable Housing Europe). Ce programme est financé par l'UE et est coordonné par Federabitazione. Il vise à construire 800 habitations dans quatre pays (Portugal, France, Danemark et Italie) avec l'aide de huits associations de logement. L'article explique les objectifs principaux du programme SHE et se penche en détail sur certains des projets proposés. Cette édition s'est aussi intéressée au travail du consortium Trusted@Work4Homes qui reçoit un financement dans le cadre du programme eTen et il décrit les utilisation innovatrices des ressources trouvées en ligne par Le Toit Angevin et NIHE.

This edition has a feature on some of the work of the NIHE, such as the installation of renewable energy heating systems in hard to heat homes in an attempt to reduce energy consumption and the Housing Executive’s involvement in a number of community initiatives – such as the Healthy Neighbourhood project in Castlereagh. Also featured is the IRFPP project, which provides vocational training for future caretakers in social housing companies, innovative urban regeneration on a brownfield site in Hamburg, an overview of housing in Ireland, a feature on VISOGSA’s housing for the elderly in Granada and an article on the Dutch Woonquest initiative.

Cette édition se penche sur certains des projets de NIHE, comme l'installation de systèmes de chauffage basés sur l'énergie renouvelable dans des maisons difficiles à chauffer afin de réduire leur consommation énergétique. Elle aborde aussi la question de l'engagement du Housing Executive dans un certain nombre d'initiatives comme le projet pour des quartiers sains à Castlereagh. Elle présente également le projet IRFPP qui propose des formations pour les futurs concierges de s compagnies de logement social, la rénovation urbaine innovatrice sur un ancien site industriel à Hambourg, une vue d'ensemble du logement en Irlande, un projet de VISOGSA pour les personnes âgées à Grenade et un article sur l'initiative néerlandaise Woosquest.

Featured in this edition of the News is the NIHE’s Health and Housing scheme, which addresses the link between fuel poverty, energy inefficiency and ill health, the “new community” that is developing in Nottingham Community Housing association’s Castle Station development, the role that Finland’s constitution plays in the social housing sector and AEDES’ housing developments for the elderly in the Netherlands. There are also features on the Swedish co-operative model, London’s Presentation Housing Association and an interview with (then) president Angelo Grasso.

This special edition on immigration features the hugely successful Globaler Hof scheme in Vienna, an article by Johann Van der Craats of AEDES on strategies for housing asylum seekers, and how asylum seekers are being housed in Glasgow, as well as a report on how SONACOTRA helped renovate dilapidated accommodation housing migrants in St Denis. This issue also includes a feature on the role of the Housing Association in Northern Ireland, NIHE’s moves to cut C02 emissions and an article outlining differences in Northern Irish and German social housing.
