CECODHAS issues several publications that will give practical information and analysis on the interaction between housing and EU policies.

The year 2007 is proving to be pivotal concerning the position of social housing in European debate. Whether an issue for the social services of general interest, or an issue for the 2007-2013 cohesion policy or even the action plan for energy, the EU seems to be intent on taking on the housing issues in a concerted approach.

Within this context, those publications should help CECODHAS Members and social housing providers to identify the challenges and opportunities given by the EU policies.

Firstly, CECODHAS issues a practical guide to use EU Structural Funds for housing projects.
Considering the new opportunities given to social housing, be it the eligibility of housing expenditure for the EU-12 countries or the promotion of urban development actions in the EU-15, CECODHAS issued a practical guide to give social housing providers as much information and advice as possible to enable them to design, propose and implement efficient housing projects.
This guide is addressed not only to social housing providers but also to all the actors promoting sustainable urban development since it is necessary to support the development of eligible projects – especially housing projects – which represent a real boost to improve our fellow citizens’ quality of life.

Secondly, the spring edition of the CECODHAS Exchange is somewhat special. It is a kind of snapshot look at the main dossiers that link housing and the European Union as well as a review of the challenges yet to come.
