News from Member States: Housing Policies to boost French Growth |

In an intermediary report to the Prime minister, a special Commission for the Promotion of Growth in France, points out at the crucial role of spatial planning and housing policies to help to increase growth potential.
After stressing the problems encountered by the housing and especially the social housing sector, the report lists a number of recommendations: for example, to increase the supply of housing units through an appropriate land policy, to develop so-called "ecopolis", i.e sustainable urban areas which integrate energy intelligent and socially mixed housing forms, employment opportunities, innovative water and waste management systems, clean transports, high quality green public spaces
