Register now for the 2008 European Sustainable Energy Week. The week's events which are co-hosted by the European Commision will include a CECODHAS conference on 'Housing and the European Energy Transition'
The objective of the conference is to illustrate how the social housing sector can be leaders in a sustainable, people-centred energy transition.
We will use this unique opportunity to present:
- state-of-the-art case studies of successful large-scale projects in the social housing sector which cut energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy.
- The regulatory, legislative, financial and technical measures needed to pave the way towards optimising sustainable energy management and replicating successful projects in the entire social housing stock will also be presented.
This conference will also outline the growing problem of feul poverty affecting European citizens and present innovative case studies of how this phenomena is being tackled throughout the EU. THe final session of the conference will be used to illustrate that sustainability requires the guarantee of transparency, affordability and empowerment of citizens in a liberalised energy market.
Members of the European Parliament, Representatives of the Social Housing sector, energy providers, European Trade Unions and Employers will give their views on how EU policies can reinforce the rights of citizens in a liberalised energy market.
You can download the draft programme here in English, French and Italian.
There are also a number of additional events related to the European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) which will be of interest to CECODHAS members. Download here
