The 3000 housing companies represented by CECODHAS German member organisation, GdW are forerunners in achieving  energy efficiency and combatting climate change. Based on a recommendation made at the organisation's general assembly which took place on 14 & 15th of November, together with the national real estate federation have offered the Ministries with responsibilities in this area to join an alliance in the battle against climate change and the quest for energy efficiency.

The main elements upon which the alliance is based are as follows: 1)expert technical and economic advisory services to be provided to the German government in the setting and achieving of realistic  climate and erergy efficiency goals in the residential sector. 2) A comprehensive and long term campaign to support housing organisations on energy performance aspects of refurbishment of existing housing stock and the construction of new stock  3) Continuous cooperation between GdW and the ministry to ensure consensual regulation proposals and the realisation of joint projects and procedures.
