In Europe, the diversity of migrant elders is increasing. Mobility and enhanced living conditions contribute to this development. We would like to invite all of you who are involved in this issue to take part in the AAMEE project and competition.
The call for best practices concerns exemplary initiatives with and for migrant elders from all over Europe. The aim is a pan-European exchange of experience and shared learning. The following organisations may apply: local and regional authorities, municipalities, public administration, social service departments, housing associations, co-operative societies, NGOs, etc.
Deadline for applications is on 30 August 2008.

The project is organized by the Ministry of Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and realized with the financial assistance of the EU Commission in the frame of VP/2007/009 ENEA.

Wanted are projects from all EU member states. Applying projects shall demonstrate how the engagement for and with minority ethnic and migrant elders are implemented within their work. Only projects which have left the stadium of planning and are actively being realised are accepted.

The international conference “Migrant Elders across Europe - from Challenges to Opportunities” from 30 September to 2 October 2008, at the World Conference Bonn, Germany, will focus attention on the chances related to this issue for the first time. Furthermore, at the conference the first two European good practice competitions will be awarded.
