CECODHAS, together with CEMR, the Council of European Municipalities
and Regions, and in partnership with the Committee of the Regions,
organises a half-day conference on June 22 in Brussels (Committee of the Regions) on the new ERDF rule on energy efficiency and use of renewable energy in housing in all EU member states.
This measure, adopted by the European Parliament on April 2nd (see press release here ), will allow regional and local authorities to spend EU funds on
increasing the energy efficiency and use of renewable energy in
existing housing in all EU 27. This is both an opportunity and a
challenge for local stakeholders, not least for housing providers. That is why CECODHAS, CEMR and the Committee of the regions organises this event in order to raise awareness but also increase the capacity of local stakeholders to use EU structural funds within this new framework.
The conference is part of CECODHAS contribution to the full mobilisation of institutional actors at all levels, the skilling up of local stakeholders (including social and cooperative housing organisations) and the engagement and education of citizens, all three conditions to turn the new opportunities into concrete and positive achievements.
The conference will be opened by Ms Danuta Hübner, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, who has been a strong advocate of the new measure. Among other speakers will be M. Hubert Falco, French Secretary of State in Charge of Spatial Planning, who followed the discussion among Member States on the new measure, representative of the Czech Presidency of the European Union, Michael Schneider and Flo Clucas, members of the Committee of the Regions, prominent representatives of cities and social housing organisations.
