AVS – The Spanish Social Housing federation together with CECODHAS is organising an international conference on the theme Social & Cooperative Housing fighting Climate Change. In advance of the Copenhagen Summit, it will be vital for Social & Cooperative Housing Organisations to showcase the work they are carrying out in partnership with residents and communities to reduce the carbon footprint of their activities while reducing energy bills.

This conference will offer an opportunity to CECODHAS members to exchange knowledge and experience by presenting progressive projects and to place their strategies in the context of International and European Climate Change action plans. Speakers include Spanish Minister for Housing Beatriz Corredor (tbc), Nils Larsson, Executive Director of the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment ( iiSBE), and CECODHAS President, David Orr.

The programme will also include presentations from the European Commussion, the Covenant of Mayors, UNESCO followed by ambitious European case studies. The common theme of the case studies will be Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Social & Cooperative Housing with special emphasis on Partnerships and Participation of end users.
