On December 14, the Council of Europe development Bank (CEB) and Fonds du logement des familles nombreuses de Wallonie (FLW), one of CECODHAS members in Belgium, signed a framework agreement of 50 million euros. The sum will finance new loans, including green loans, which will be available to families on low income for buying, renovating and constructing dwellings.
This loan from CEB, which benefits from a guarantee by the Walloon Region, will be allocated to target families at particularly advantageous conditions. It will contribute to re-launching social mortagage lending in the Walloon Region and to fighting poverty - particularly child poverty - by protecting households from falling into over-indebtedness.
This is the first time in the Walloon Region that a partnership is created between the CEB and a social housing provider, and it marks the start of a cooperation between CEB and FLW aimed at helping families on low income and vulnerable.
The Council of Europe development Bank (CEB) is an international organisation with a social vocation which operates under the authority of the Couincil of Europe. The CEB contributes to the implementation of socially oriented investment projects in favour of social cohesion in Europe through three sectoral lines of action, namely strengthening social integration - including housing for people on low income - managing the environment, and developing human and social capital.
The Fonds du Logement des familles nombreuses de Wallonie (FLW) is a co-operative organisation with a mission of general interest recognized by the Walloon Housing Code. its main activities include: mortgage credit lending at social conditions, and provision of social rental dwellings for families with more than 3 children.
